I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the pc speaker sound driver.  It let 
you play any wave through the case speaker. 
In the old visbas-l list someone once posted a vb6 app that played the theme to 
the muppets through the speaker :)

I even had a copy of it until about 5 years ago.   Was a clever little 
com file, I don't remember anything about it and virus activity.  But in 
those days a virus automatically infected anything executable.
I got it about the same time as my first fractal generator.
