Hi all,

I've had a workgroup running at home for years without problems. I recently
replaced an XP machine with a windows 7 one and can't get them to see each
other on the network. I've done heaps of Google searches and am overwhelmed
with the amount of (mis)information out there. So far nothing has helped.

For now I'm just trying to have 2 machines in the network (small steps). The
first is called MEDIA (it's an XP Media Center), the second is called MOTHER
(Win 7). The workgroup is called VALHALLA.
(I did have a third machine - a Windows 7 laptop. It had no problem seeing
MOTHER. It's turned off while I try to get the desktops working).

>From MOTHER, if I click on Network, I can see the MEDIA machine, however
when I click on it I get "Windows cannot access \\MEDIA. Check the spelling
of the name. Otherwise there may be a problem with your network....".
Clicking Diagnose gets me nowhere.

>From MEDIA I can't even see MOTHER.

That's the basic info. Not sure what else to tell you, but am happy to
answer any questions.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Cheers
Dave
