My two bobs worth........   we aren't in this job for the thanks.   the whole experience is for the mother/father/baby etc.   Its not about "US" its about "THEM"........   so look outward at how good a job you did in keeping out of their inner circle, and creating a space for them to birth in their OWN way.     sounds like it was just perfect to me, they claimed the whole experience for themselves and didn't feel like they needed to thank anyone!
