Alana Street.
Executive Officer
Australian College of Midwives Incorporated.

Dear Alana,

I write on behalf of members of the Australian Bachelor of Midwifery Student Collective to thank you for the ACMI's support in responding to the Canberra Times article 'Obstetrician Feb up with the Hostility' (12/01/02) in which retiring Canberra Obstetrician, Dr. Heather Munro, makes unfounded and alarmist comments regarding the competency of graduates of Bachelor of Midwifery education programs.

As members of the 'The Collective' we truly appreciate the College's support and vision with regards to the development and implementation of Bachelor of Midwifery education. Furthermore, we would like to congratulate the College's efforts to further strengthen midwifery education in this country through its endeavours to produce national standards of midwifery education, with the hope that these standards will be used for the approval of all midwifery education programs around the country.

Yours sincerely,
Tina Pettigrew.

Convenor, Australian Bachelor of Midwifery Student Collective.
