Thanks for posting this Virginia - just the type of resource I needed at this point in time.   I found it interesting that this study does not differentiate between medical and midwifery modes of delivery of antenatal care.  This could be interpretted in a variety of ways.... is it only based on medically based a/n care, or a cross section of midwifery models and/or medical/midwifery shared care?  Maybe the lack of differentiation could be interpretted to demonstrate a general acceptance of midwifery led antenatal care....  unlikely in the AMJ, me thinks.  Correct me if I'm wrong.  Nevertheless, a good overview of basic a/n practices in Australia, and some good references to help me research this further.  Thanks, Lois

Most of you will be interested in the article on antenatal care in Australia, and associated editorial, in the latest Medical Journal of Australia (18 March).  See below.  You will find it at www.mja.com.au

Are recommendations about routine antenatal care in Australia consistent and evidence-based?
