Hi Denise

I'm a Committee member of the Launceston Birth Centre and yes it is still
community run. We have a very committed group of people who are determined
to ensure that women still have birthing choices. There are a number of
midwives associated with the centre who are employed by the clients.
Unfortunately, the number of midwives available has been impacted upon by
the lack of professional indemnity insurance. The few midwives who continue
to practice do so without insurance, however their clients are fully
informed of this.

I know your email was addressed to Terry, however, I haven't seen a reply
yet from her. I hope this is the information you were after. Let me know if
you need more.

Shandell Elmer
