Hi Liz,

I attended the antenatal classes, with one of my Follow-Through women 
for uni, at the birth centre @ the hospital you work at & thought they 
did a pretty okay job re: pain & pain relief.

They did talk about endorphins & I remember they said that natural pain 
relief was always the first & best option- massage, hot/cold packs, 
changing position, etc.  She made it sound like the midwives in the 
birth centre were pretty committed to this.

Then she said that if those options don't work & you want drugs, in the 
birth centre they offer gas & pethidine.  & then if you feel that you'd 
like an epidural, that's an instance where you'd have to transfer out 
of the birth centre.
