I've had a similar problem with my son in the past, and the rash turned out
to be thrush.  I had to treat him internally thru his gut, feeding lots of
yoghurt etc, and used a combination of anti-fungal and zinc cream on his
bottom.  Another old remedy  was plain old corn flour, very soothing, and as
it healed, bathed his bottom with a dilute mix of carb soda/water.  Good
