Yes, I remember this discussion awhile ago, too. Here's the link to the archives so you can search for what's been said already (& the story of a list member who had a 3rd or 4th degree tear w/ her first birth & went on to have a vaginal birth w/ 2nd degree tear for baby #2 who weighed more! if I remember correctly).
