I agree with the fact that midwives would move to rural areas if they could do only midwifery, however I think that if the RN/Midwives in the rural areas were given the opportunity,  support and enthusiasm we would find that there are quite a few Midwives out there who have not used there skill for a long, long time but may be willing to resurrect them again.
