And if it is just the documents you need without any other information, you could always open via Windows Explorer and copy them across to your 2007 site.

If you do require that information, you should look at a tool as mentioned, we have used the DocAve tool several times and it works very well, it was also one of the most price competitive options we looked. If you just need to get the documents across without all the metadata, then a custom tool/powershell option might be the way to go.
