Hi Caroline, Can you check if the app pool account has local admin rights to the web server? I know it's got nothing to do with the error message, but a bit of googling indicated that this might be the problem.

Go to Central Admin --> Application Management and click the link Check Services Enabled in this Farm. You should see an issue here stating you are running an evaluation version and from memory you can click a link and enter a valid license key. Has anyone seen this error before? The exact steps I take are: 1. Go to Import Application Definition page in the SSP. 2. Selecte an application definition file to import and then click on Import. 3. The next page is displayed with the error message. I can't seem to find anything relevant in the log files or the event log. Things I have tried so far: - Checked group WSS_WPG had Read permissions to following registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Office Server\12.0. It did. - Checked group WSS_ADMIN_WPG had Full permissions to the same registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Office Server\12.0. It did.
