Thanks for your info. I got it working by creating a new search scope that is limited to searching within a subsite to validate that it returns items and that both the crawl and propagation was working. I edited the scope and changed the rule to the content class SPS_ListItem_GenericList, and ran the update. It returned items for the scope and I was able to search for list items only. Thanks. Is it more than zero? If it is more than zero, that means something wrong with the crawler. We need to take further investigation on that. If It is equal to zero, that means something wrong with the crawl rule you added. You might want to change your content class to SPS_ListItem_GenericList instead to give it another try. I updated the scopes in Central Administration and ran a full crawl, however no items were returned against the scope.
