Just an FYI on anyone looking for this in future, I changed the
default.master of the site and this line controls the width of that area
(including scrollbar)

<SharePoint:SPRememberScroll runat="server" id="TreeViewRememberScroll"
onscroll="javascript:_spRecordScrollPositions(this);" Style="overflow:
auto;height: 400px;width: 225px; ">

Subject: Adjust Width of Left Navigation Pane

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if there was an easy (preferably in site admin sections)
way to change the width of the left hand navigation pane. Is this
something I can do from within the site...or do I need to crank out
SharePoint Designer and edit something...if so do you guys know what
specifically?

Cheers,
