Guys

This post caught my eye ...

There is a Microsoft/SharePoint toolset designed explicitly for bi-directional
synchronization, and it's called
FIM<http://www.microsoft.com/forefront/identitymanager/en/us/default.aspx>
(Forefront Identity Manager 2010). The sync engine for this technology is the
very same component that comes pre-configured (and non-customizable) with
SharePoint 2010 to sync MOSS user profiles to AD. My company operates
exclusively in what is a growing IAM (Identity and Access Management) market on
the MS platform, and many of the skillsets overlap with those required for MOSS
development (custom workflows, interoperability, etc.).

If you have a look at the attached you'll see the sort of skillset required -
my company is always on the lookout for this sort of skillset incidentally :) -
but the reason I'm posting here is to (a) make people aware of the existence of
this complementary technology, and (b) recognise where this sort of requirement
comes up so you can leverage it. My company offers formal training if you want
to look into doing this sort of thing yourself (the online
community<http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ilm2/threads> is not
as strong yet as MOSS itself, but growing rapidly), and we offer a range of
plug-and-play "connectors" for this platform using our "Identity Broker"
technology, or you can subcontract our services if that's not for you.

Cheers

Depends on what you mean by "connect" - BDC in 2007 is primarily a one-way
street: you can pull the data into sharepoint, but you cant really use it to
push data back in to the EOL system.

If you need 2-way transference, you are probably better of investigating what
web services are available on the system (or developing your own) and using
them to update data

Cheers,

Nigel

Subject: Off topic: BDC connecting to asset management system
Hi

I am just wondering if anyone has ever worked on connecting MOSS 2007 to an
asset management system like Hansen 8?
I haven't worked with a BDC before so a lot to learn!

Cheers!
