+1 for avalon dock. 

+1 makes +2 - I haven't pushed it very hard, but it seems to be quite
sophisticated and capable of producing UIs as complex as Visual Studio (not
that apps for the public would want to look like that).

I'm writing an app to browse and manage ESENT databases, and without a doubt
I'm going to delete the skeleton WinForms project I have now and write a
fresh one with AvalonDock and WPF in Framework 4. This sort of programmers
tool is just perfect for docking windows.
