Subject: A rather "large" WPF app

Howdy,

I thought this might be of interest. We won the job a while ago to write the
software to run the Your Name In Lights art installation during the month of
January for the Sydney Festival 2011. We chose WPF as the rendering framework
after the real-time twitter/flickr wall we did for TechEd 2010.

The art installation is described here (anyone can register):
http://www.sydneyfestival.org.au/2011/Visual-Arts/Your-Name-In-Lights-Registration

We just did UAT with the guys from Sydney Festival and Kaldor Public Art
Projects this afternoon:

So give you an idea of the "large"/interesting part:

 *   http://twitpic.com/39yef4
 *   http://twitpic.com/39xj7o
Those pictures feature the left 15 metres of the display. The actual display
will be 30 metres wide and approximates 1.8 metres high. It is driven by a
single desktop (+ hot spares) using a XEON based server board. The display
technology is a modular matrix LED panel with an external device that drives
the panels for us. The brightness of the screen is EXTREMELY impressive.

Anyway, the app will be running on the roof of the Australian Museum from 9th
Jan through to the end of Sydney festival ... no pressure checking for memory
leaks. :) Visually, it will go here: http://yfrog.com/5o3zhjj

So, if you measure application size in square metres, this one is pretty big. :)

This was my second monitor for a while today: http://twitpic.com/39x7m7 ...
vertical res isn't great but still :)

I have a bunch of 1080p footage which I'll put up once I knock over another
couple of jobs at work.
