I'm proposing a "P2P 2.0" panel for next year's SXSW. I see P2P 2.0 as all about integration: making p2p infrastructure available as a resource anywhere, from web pages or mobile phones. The term clearly borrow from "Web 2.0" with all the accompanying marketing hype I'm sure many of you will take exception to. There's power in marketing, though, and P2P could honestly use a shot in the arm in this regard. I see tremendous potential for further integration between P2P apps and the browser, in particular, a path RedSwoosh, Coral, Dijjer, and others blazed early and that Pando, LittleShoot, and others have followed. This can go much further.
I'm hoping this and other efforts will start a new wave of thinking and press surrounding p2p, focusing on its power for media distribution and its low cost and moving away from the endless piracy debates. I'm proposing we call this "P2P 2.0," and everyone's thoughts and rants are welcome. It would be a huge help if everyone could take 30 seconds to vote for the panel. If you don't have a login, you need to register at: http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/users/register and then vote at: http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/ideas/view/2097 I will likely also be trying to recruit a couple of you to participate.
