Before going down too many paths some of this seems to fall within the 'Sail' project. They've released some interesting prototype code already.

Peace.

I fully agree. Keep it up! Thanks zooko.

On that note, I wonder if I could enlist some interest on the idea of a 3-d, p2p Internet. I argue that the only way to solve the problem of scaling in a *general-purpose*, p2p network, is to expand to 3 dimensions (because besides trust, you need an additional dimension of type-categories or "tags" in order to hold the whole information space ordered). In addition, I believe we've got a pretty good idea of a unified information model which can re-organize the content of the network very simply, much like the Mandelbrot equation creates it's complexity with only a simple equation.

Fortunately, there is a great package called VPython which has make the heavy-lifting of playing with 3-d *very* easy. If you don't know, it's definitely worth checking out.

In any case, while you guys are experts at organize the low-level networking stuff, I've got a killer idea for the high-level stuff and ultimately, it will upturn the top 3 layers of the OSI model and add a 3-d presentation layer for the Internet. I just need someone who knows event-driven programming and maybe some physics simulation expertise and I think a pretty awesome demo can be made in less than a week.

The project wiki is at pangaia.sourceforge.net <http://pangaia.sourceforge.net>, and the code is kept at http://github.com/theProphet/Social-Garden. Like i say on the wiki, don't be fooled by the half-dozen files of the project, it represent the accumulation of a lot of research boiled down to pure essentials. Ultimately, I envision, that it will evolve into a p2p operating system.

Cheers in any case,

MarkJ

P.S. Sorry for the annoying re-send. The formatting got munch with the google's new format-email layout.
