At the risk of going off topic, can you explain *why* you want to do this? If you need a distributed, replicated filesystem with asynchronous replication capability (the latter presumably for DR), why not use a Distributed-Replicated GlusterFS volume with geo-replication? Note that I know next to nothing about your actual detailed requirements, so GlusterFS may well be non-ideal for you and my suggestion may thus be moot, but it would be nice if you could explain why you're doing this.
