Simply, there is a namespace conflict against this as a package name. As the incumbent 'xcalc' is a non-scientific calculator, and I cannot imagine a good reason to intentionally add a namespace conflict with radically different functionality under the same name [herr...@stones herrold]$ sudo yum provides "*bin/xcalc" ...
