Make individual subpackages conditional (rpmbuild --without docs --without check ...). There's a slight problem with the java bindings: documentation is not installed, the examples are not installed, and the examples all use System.loadLibrary. To work under Linux, they should be converted to System.load [1]. I think it would be best to do this as an upstream patch, so I left it for later. Something like [2], but less ugly.
