Hello PacketFence users,

I am pleased to announce a beta release of our ZEN virtual appliance. This release contains the support for our new DHCP inline mode. In other words, it is now possible to have the Inline and VLAN mode working together to support unmanageable devices in your network!

In order to make the ZEN working properly for the inline mode, you *may* need to tweak the configuration files a bit. In fact, here are our assumptions : - Your production and management VLAN is using the VLAN ID 10 and have 192.168.1.0/24 for the ip subnet. This will be interface eth0.10 in the ESX version, and eth4 in the Desktop version. - Your inline VLAN ID will be 200 with a 192.168.200.0/24 subnet. This will be on interface eth0.200 in the ESX version, and eth5 in the Desktop version**.
- Your DNS is 4.2.2.2

**: Refer to the ZEN administration guide about how to match a virtual interface to a VLAN physical interface (bridge mode)

If your setup doesn't fit in the assumptions, keep in mind that you should probably only modify conf/pf.conf, and conf/networks.conf to fit your architecture. For example, if you need to change the DNS for your inline subnet, you will need to modify the dnsserver field in pf.conf with your DNS ip, and modify the inline subnet definition in networks.conf. Those files are pretty straightforward, I am sure you will figure out quite fast how it works, especially if you are already using PF in VLAN mode!

Of course, if you have questions or comments, feel free to contact us on the mailing list!
