I am trying to set up packet fence in my home lab in vmware esxi . I do not
have a physical switch, I connected ESXi machine to the wireless router
directly.

I have tried inline enforcement which works fine. For out of band I created
a WAN with in my esxi using pfsense as router. I have a virtual switch
connected to the LAN side of pfsense. I then have set up packetfence in
the LAN network.

>From my understanding, out of band doesn't set iptables, but assigns VLANs
to the switch port that the device is connected. I cannot test wifi access
points in my lab. So I created a VM and connected to Registration VLAN
port. I get captive portal login , but it doesn't go past authentication.

My questions are :
1) Does a wired device authenticates with packet fence's radius server via
captive portal
2) What is "normal" VLAN, On the set up page i only have options to choose
Management, Registration, and Isolation VLANS
3) Is it possible to set this up with virtual switches? If yes what do I
enter in Switches section

Thanks,
Sridhar
