Same problem. OpenShot 1.3 in OpenSUSE 11.4 Gnome. Found this bug report: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-bugs/2011-02/msg02834.html and saw that python-imaging was missing from my system. Installed it and OpenShot opens and runs. Fingers crossed!
