I just wanted to report an issue I've been having with VLC and related packages for the last several updates. This is happening on multiple machines so I don't think it's specific to my system(s).
I run updates using the following command line from a root shell. zypper ref;zypper up;zypper ps -s Here is the relevant output section from the update run. *(50/56) Installing: vlc-noX-2.2.4-34.1.x86_64 ...........................[done]* *Additional rpm output:* */var/tmp/rpm-tmp.tfE6K6: line 2: 21466 Segmentation fault /usr/lib64/vlc/vlc-cache-gen -f /usr/lib64/vlc/plugins* *warning: %post(vlc-noX-2.2.4-34.1.x86_64) scriptlet failed, exit status 139* *(51/56) Installing: libmlt6-modules-6.4.1-76.10.x86_64 ..................[done]* *(52/56) Installing: vlc-codecs-2.2.4-34.1.x86_64 ........................[done]* *Additional rpm output:* */var/tmp/rpm-tmp.gydjKZ: line 1: 21471 Segmentation fault /usr/lib64/vlc/vlc-cache-gen -f /usr/lib64/vlc/plugins* *warning: %post(vlc-codecs-2.2.4-34.1.x86_64) scriptlet failed, exit status 139* *(53/56) Installing: synfigstudio-1.0.2-3.14.x86_64 ......................[done]* *Additional rpm output:* *Unknown media type in type 'all/all'* *Unknown media type in type 'all/allfiles'* *(54/56) Installing: vlc-qt-2.2.4-34.1.x86_64 ............................[done]* *Additional rpm output:* */var/tmp/rpm-tmp.FzokbB: line 1: 21496 Segmentation fault /usr/lib64/vlc/vlc-cache-gen -f /usr/lib64/vlc/plugins* *warning: %post(vlc-qt-2.2.4-34.1.x86_64) scriptlet failed, exit status 139* *(55/56) Installing: vlc-2.2.4-34.1.x86_64 ...............................[done]* *Additional rpm output:* */var/tmp/rpm-tmp.vbeTzL: line 1: 21499 Segmentation fault /usr/lib64/vlc/vlc-cache-gen -f /usr/lib64/vlc/plugins* *warning: %post(vlc-2.2.4-34.1.x86_64) scriptlet failed, exit status 139* * (56/56) Installing: vlc-noX-lang-2.2.4-34.1.noarch ......................[done] No processes using deleted files found.* As you can see the errors all occur in the post installation scripts of the failing packages. Please let me know if there is any other diagnostics I can do or output I can provide to assist in diagnosing and repairing this. Also, let me know if you think this is an upstream VLC problem and not a problem specific to the Packman packages so I can report it to the upstream maintainers.
