azawawi and I had a discussion in irc today , mostly me complaining
about the responsiveness of helpsearch when many modules are
installed.
HelpSearch is roughly 3rd generation padre documentation provider.
First there was Pod::Frame then Padre::DocBrowser , both of these did
term resolution on the fly and rendering on the fly.
These days we have both docbrowser and helpsearch in the help menu.
Now for my 2c.
HelpSearch user interface beats DocBrowser in almost all respects.
HelpSearch unfortunately blocks the editor badly in certain cases
('Reading Items' on startup and certain _heavy_ searches 'perldiag'
can really grind the disk and cpu)
I would like to see the two merged into something ever better. I am
happy to kill off docbrowser if we can adjust helpsearch to perform
more consistently and quickly.
Watch this space. I'm just recording this idea while it is still fresh.
