I was at a conference whre some Google employees showed Chrome and
explained some of the ideas behind it.

One idea was "No UI is good UI" making Chrome very simple to use for
newbies but allowing
some advanced features for those who want it.
For example the idea of searching for things typed in the place where
the address should be
and non intrusive pop-ups. Eg. when you are on a page that is not in
your default language
an extra line appears at the top of the screen offering you to
translate the page.

Then I was also talking to someone who runs a company that creates and
sells a derivative of Ubuntu.
One of the things they offer is a small window where the person can
type in what she wants to use
and the application that provides that service will be launched.
For example if she wants to "chat" and types that in the window an
application that is used for chatting
is launched.

So I am thinking if we could adopt these ideas in Padre?

The search window is basically and extended version of the quick menu find
united with the open resource window and if I think more about it then a one
row command line window. I wonder what do you think about this and if
we could run an experiment adding such window to the default layout
of the IDE?
