  not from my understanding..

  the y2k problem was a problem built from space restrictions.. you
  have 1,000,000 people in your database.. if you use 2 digits.. you
  save 2Mb.. 2Mb 10 years ago cost money.

  cost money = forget it (in managerial terms)

  it is not the programmers that have caused this problem.

  there were programmers who realised the problem back when it 
  all started.. but nobody listened.. it took someone to say
  "your plane will crash" before anyone noticed it.

  fine - the current development environment is pretty 
  restrictive to 2031 for dates.. but as long as we do 
  not accept it - and work with it, and be prepared for
  change when 3COM update it.. everything should be fine.

  ps: i only use a MSDOS based OS because i have to. my
      O2 is very happy on my desk too.. but some 'management'
      people wont make the move from PCs.. 

      just like the y2k problem!?
