as a data point, i've experienced no problems with alarms on my PalmV.

my settings are:
- PalmV turns off after 2 minutes
- does not stay on in cradle
- alarm volume is "High"


i did notice, however, that when i used BackupBuddy to backup my III and
then copy it all onto my V, i did have a lot of alarms that beeped, but did
not pop up any form.  i think those were alarms that were scheduled on the
III, but the LocalID of the associated record was now different, or
something like that.  doesn't sound like the same symptoms, though.  anyway,
this was due to me just reinstalling *everything* from my III onto my V, and
not a bug in the OS.
