        I can't count the number of times I've gotten Pepsi when I
asked for "a coke" at restaurants (I think this happens more in the
South, though). Only occasionally does the waitstaff warn me by saying
"Pepsi okay for that coke?". And it's even more common to use phrases
like "get a coke" for any carbonated-beverage break. I still hear
Xeroxing in common use for photocopying. Perhaps we travel in totally
different circles, but my experience says that their brand defense
hasn't really made this usage go away.
