I am looking to initiate this process but have it default to the modem. I
know how to do it thru the standard serial link. Is it the same way only
with the hardCradle2Chr?

If you're going to do it this way you should probably also check
that the modifiers member of the keyDown event has the commandKeyMask
bit set.
