  keep in mind that this means the existing version still remains,
  but for ROM stuff.. i guess it does not matter.. i dont know how
  3com feels about you using their 'creatorID' tho.. 

  you would need to ensure that your database formats were consistant
  too.. otherwise, you will open the database (which could have been 
  created by the previous app), and read it incorrectly..

  since you have the source code to the ROM programs, you can base
  it on this, and it will be stable.. but if the database format
  changes with new roms etc.. you need to fix..
