This is sufficient for a 1/2 second delay since it's (arguably) ok to lock up the
machine for that long. For a delay of several seconds, it becomes more of a problem.
You really should let the user interact with the UI during the delay. Look at the way
the built-in Date Book app puts up the time when you tap on the title (which normally
shows the date). During the period when the time is displayed, you can use the app
normally.
Your use of SysTicksPerSecond() is good.
