restrictions for lots of C calls in Satellite Forms

I was trying to build a C application that would manipulate a lot of data
stored in an application created by SF standard edition. I found out that
they almost encrypt their data internally.

Now I intend to make a lot of calls for C funcions from a SF program. I've
heard that this mechanism doesn't work well. Has anyone tried that
successfully ?
