I would like to put a strong vote in for the current setup.
I like the fact that even though I am not developing Palm software every
day, I am immersed in the developer community in "real time". It is
interesting and educational to watch the various challenges delivered to
this list posted, thrashed around and solved. I save some of the solutions
because I know that I'll soon be up against the problem mentioned.
I would never be able to do this if the support were done in a newsgroup. I
would have to actively go there every day, download the messages and read
through them. My schedule and workload are such that I would eventually not
go there unless I had a specific problem to solve.
I receive hundreds of emails daily and process the ones I'm not interested
in with a flick of the delete button. I can go through 50 in five to ten
minutes. I have found that this sort of information sifting can yield some
real "gems" that won't necessarily show themselves in a more structured
search.

Subject: Newsgroups instead of Forum lists?
Hi,
[slightly off-topic]
I find distribution lists difficult to manage. <<snip>>
