simple database

[MicroSense Computer Works]

I need to be able to import data from a PC, validate the data that is being
scanned (I have an symbol spt1700 with scanner built in) against that data
and
then log what was scanned.  The logged data then needs to be sent back to
the
PC for analysis.

I just need a simple sample of how to open up a database, find a record,
close
the database, and also how get it back onto the pc in a manor that I can
read
there.

Hope someone can help.  Project is already late.
