Interesting article!  

I think that now is the time to really tout a 'Palm OS
Certified' program, similar to MCSD or MCSE.  I think
that if we get people educated, the effect of 'garbage
programming' will be minimized.  Plus, it would
discourage all the Visual Basic programmers from
jumping on to a system that requires more than
eye-candy to please a customer.

This, along with a good software shake-out of the
inevitable bad programs that will show up, may well
prevent too much tarnishing of the Palm OS name.
