I was looking at this situation this afternoon as well. I'm sorry that I
can't provide any clearer answers, but as David Fedor says, it could be a
corrupt resource or something else. In my case, I deleted the bitmap
(luckily I had the original still lying around), created a new one, and
pasted the original bitmap back in again. Second time round it linked OK.
Maybe this may help. Sorry I could not suggest anything more.
