I am trying to write my first "do-nothing" conduit, largely by following the instructions contained in Rhodes' and McKeehan's Palm Programming, pages 305-335. To the best of my knowledge, I have managed to get everything successfully set up, but I can't seem to get a debug HotSync going. In fact, I can't seem to get a debug HotSync going (that is, using hotsyncd.exe as directed for when working with a debugging conduit) even when my conduit and associated application are taken out of the picture. Each time I try the HotSync, I get to the point where I am prompted on the system running the HotSync manager for the user, I then select the user. On the system running POSE, I get the message that the HotSync was interrupted. The log file on the system running the HotSync Manager shows the following information in its log: HotSync operation started 05/26/00 11:37:07 HotSync Error: An application failed to respond to a HotSync notification. Please check the Palm Desktop for details. (8009) HotSync operation complete 05/26/00 11:37:09 Here are the pertinent details (or least what seem pertinent to me) in no particular order: 1. If I use the regular hotsync.exe out of the Program Files\palm directory everything runs fine. 2. I am using two machines for this with a null-modem cable between the two comm ports. 3. Note that I get the problem even if I delete my conduit with CondCfg.exe and my application is not installed on the POSE. 4. For my "normal" PalmPilot I use Intellisync to synch between the Palm and Outlook. Oddly, when I am running the hotsyncd.exe manager, I don't see the Intellisync conduits under HotSync manager's "Custom..." option as I do when using hotsync.exe. 5. I have tried changing the "HotSync Settings..." in CondCfg.exe to point to the directory where hotsyncd.exe and its related "---d.dll" files are and change the backup conduit to bakcn20d.dll. This results in no change in behavior. 6. Deselecting all of the conduits from the POSE conduit setup in the HotSync application has no effect. 7. POSE is running on a Win95 machine, HotSync manager on Win98SE. 8. I am using POSE 3.0a.4 with the 3.0 debug ROM, Palm III personality and 2MB of RAM. Any ideas?
