Am I missing something here? This is a contest right? That means no one
has to enter. It's just for fun. If the prizes aren't good enough, don't
enter. The company will offer better prizes in the future if they don't get
enough applicants. Besides who needs prizes, whatever happened to winning
for the glory of it.

The programming contest at PalmSource is a lot of fun. However, comparing
PalmSource to what this thread started about is like
comparing an Olympic event to a high school track meet. I was really
insulted to a prize of only US$100. For many here, that isn't
even an hour of their time.
The exchange is way out and there wasn't a complete set of contest rules.
You should at least have pointed to a URL about the
contest on your site that stated about IP resolvement, a listing of the
sponsors and the judges, probability of winning and onward.
As far as prizes goes, here are suggestions. We have done similar things
and these were the prizes we gave out:
Palm IIIc
Palm IIIe
Handspring Visor
3Com Modem
a free license of our product
placement of their name, photo and URL on a "Winners Page" of our site
That is a contest!
