However, it doesn't help very much, since I tried the same configuration and
still experienced connection problems between CW and POSE.

I suspect very much that those problems are kind of hardware-sensitive. That
is, as there are probably timing questions involved, it might be related to
things like processor type and speed, memory size, and OS.

So, could you tell what kind of hardware are you using ?

Also, I suggest you try CW 6 + update 1 + latest plug-in + POSE 3.0a7 on
such "low end" configuration as mine (Celeron 300A, 64Mb, Win98SE). This
might help you finding out what's wrong in the protocol and/or
implementation of the communication between the debugger plug-in and POSE.
When it breaks, in 90% cases the plug-in can't connect any more to POSE and
the only cure is usually to close and restart CW IDE : in my opinion, this
demonstrates that there is something wrong.
