As someone who's been developing applications for 18 yrs, primarily with C/C++/Java in the distributed realm (client/server before it was called client/server, and most recently Internet). I'm looking forward to taking on the Palm OS and continuing to have fun building leading-edge apps. What trends do all of you Palm developers see in your own industries and in general. Specifically, the Smart Phones seem to be picking up speed with 100 million cell-phone users vs. 7 million Palm users (numbers may be off but I saw these numbers in this weeks news mags) I can't imagine we're going to want to carry around all of these little devices and adapters to get information. The cell-phones are coming under fire having to do with radiation and other health concerns. Does anyone know what alliances/partnerships Palm has? I know of a few but couldn't find a specific listing on their web site. Will we be developing for the Palm OS into the future or will it hit the skids to possibly Linux? As I get started into this new realm I'm hoping it will be a fairly long ride -- keeping it simple is the only way to go.
