I noticed the same thing. I asked them why a few months ago and according
to eGroup's tech support, searching will check all messages in the group.
Not just those in the past few months.... So much for eGroups having
reliable help. Maybe if enough of us send the same question to their
support people (plus the assertion that their server doesn't search far
enough back), we could get it fixed.
