Sorry for the long silence. However, this bug has in fact been fixed as part of the Palm OS 3.5 SDK. If you install the SDK it will install an updated 68K linker that fixes this uninformative error message. You don't actually have to use the 3.5 SDK though if you chose not to. FYI.
