Hi,
Some confusion regarding row highlighting in tables. I've got
some table code that uses a floating field to handle edits and everything
was running fairly well until I noticed that every row I edited a field in
would be displayed in inverse with a solid black background. Now this
seems linked to some standard table behavior because the solid bar
moves when I scroll the form but the table documentation I've found
only talks about item highlighting.
Several messages refer to the fact that the table object can't do row
highlighting and that you've got to implement it yourself, but other code
mentions the table inverting tapped rows as a select mechanism.
It's also possible that this is a side-effect of my custom draw code but
when I tried to implement a manual inversion of the rectangle to adjust
for this behavior I got into trouble with a cursor-shaped block being
left behind, which looks to me like PalmOS XORing what it thinks is the
last cursor position.
I thought I'd get what I wanted from the OS Companion which goes
on for pages about the logic, event sequences and gotchas for fields,
lists and other UI objects but the table entry is about half a page, a
quarter of which is a description of side-effect problems when using
icons and text side-by-side. It looks like whoever wrote the table
object wasn't available when they wrote the manual.
Anyway, anyone got a definitive statement about tables and row
highlighting and anyone know of a good article on table handling?
