Well, you can draw them to an offscreen buffer, or if you don't mind
the overhead, you can use WinScreenLock (in OS 3.5).

Do a search on offscreen buffering in the archives.  It's what most
game programmers do...but I have a hunch that from what you're doing,
WinScreenLock might do the job pretty well.
