Using record database as malloc() pool?

Hi,

Is it efficient to allocate a lot of small records from a database? We
need to allocate a bunch of stuff at the beginning of a program
dynamically and the dynamic heap is already used up. We don't do a lot
of memory modification.

Each record overhead is 20~24 bytes, right?

Please let me know if this is crazy.
