I thought members on this forum might like to know that Red-M have just released a Bluetooth Developers Kit for the Palm Vx, Blade HDK (http://www.red-m.com/BladeHDK).
The kit is primarily aimed at developers who want to Bluetooth enable their existing Palm applications to work with either the Red-M Palm Blade or the Red-M Handspring Blade. Applications such as PhoneMate by MobiMate and Monkey Messenger by Primate Systems have already taken advantage of Bluetooth, simply by using the virtual serial driver interface provided by Red-M's own Bluetooth stack for the Palm. Adding Bluetooth functionality to Palm OS applications is very straight forward. There is no Bluetooth API to use, instead Bluetooth functionality is accessed through the standard New Serial Manager & Network Library API's that developers will already be familiar with. The Developer Kit comes complete with a Palm OS Emulator serial cable to allow the Bluetooth Clip-on to be connected to a PC running POSE. The Palm Vx Blade, when running with the Palm OS Emulator has also been tested with the DR7 release of code from Palm and applications can be developed for Palm's Bluetooth API on Red-M hardware. Red-M is also offering a network version of the Dev-kit that includes the 1050AP LAN Access Point (http://www.red-m.com/1050AP). The Red-M 1050AP provides rapid, simple and reliable mobile access to a corporate LAN from Bluetooth enabled devices, allowing users to benefit from a wireless network in a localized area. It allows Palm OS developers to easily create a live Bluetooth environment to fully test newly developed applications. Red-M is hoping that with these development kits we can provide a benefit to all the new and existing developers looking to take advantage of wireless mobility. -- For information on using the Palm Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/tech/support/forums/
