Palm branded devices use a Piezo rather than a traditional speaker. Frequency response is fine for beeps, but not good for voice or music. There is no low pass filter on it, so if you pump out sampled sound, the sample frequency will probably come through as an audible tone. I'm not saying it's impossible, but the results I've heard weren't much to get excited about. Some of the other Palm OS devices out there use speakers instead of Piezo buzzers to produce better sound quality (TRG?). -- Peter Epstein
